  • Fish 304(b) Final Senate Vote
    Updated On: Sep 08, 2020

I wanted to let every member know we are closing in on our last major Legislative effort to be completed.  Today, the Senate Appropriations Committee unanimously voted in the affirmative for the passage of our HB 1584 out of their committee.  I then spoke with Joe Regan from the State FOP earlier and it was looking likely that 1584 would be on the voting schedule for final passage in the Senate tomorrow.  Just a few minutes ago, I received email confirmation that 1584 has in fact been placed on the voting calendar tomorrow.  I do not have a time but it appears the bill will be voted on and our efforts will come to fruition with this bill.  We have all indications that it will be passed tomorrow but we will have to see how everyone votes.  Lodge leadership are contacting key Senators to find out what the discussions in the Republican and Democrat caucus’s have been.  When (not if) we are successful, we have all indications that it will be signed by the Governor.  I will be watching tomorrow for it to come to vote.  Everyone will be able to watch history being made by the live cast of the Senate session.  The website is: once there the scrolling banner will allow you to click on the live cast of the Senate session.  If I receive any information about a time for the vote, I will send via website push notifications and website email.  Many in Lodge leadership have worked extremely hard to get this bill here and it is time to run this ball across the goal line.

The passage of the bill does not end the road to Act 111.  After the bill passes and is signed by the Governor, we must petition the Pennsylvania Labor Board for placement.  We have a plan of attack to expedite this process but some blocks must fall into place first.  We will keep you informed as this progresses but I wanted to let everyone know where we stand as of now and what is expected to happen in the short term.  Till then, be safe and say a good prayer for tomorrow.
